Music

I developed a passion for music early on. When I was in 1st grade I began taking piano lessons and continued with them until high school. I began to learn the ways of reading music and this helped me when I eventually started playing saxophone in band. When 5th grade band was available to me I instantly joined. I aspired to be in the high school marching band that I saw march by me at our local parades, I thought they were so cool. And eventually I did get to march down main street, in the front row! I loved band, I loved playing my saxophone and I loved being apart of an ensemble and performing together. I found early on that band was truly my passion! I participated in every band option throughout middle and high school including, jazz, pep, concert, marching, solo ensemble and honors band. I became very good and was considered a leader in the band. I got confident in my abilities and began taking the solos and auditioning for more. In solo and ensemble I went to state for 5 years in a row with multiple pieces some years. And as an eighth grader, this was pretty impressive. On senior awards night, I got the John Phillip Sousa Award for my outstanding performance in the band. And I am continuing performing in college. I am now apart of their BluGold marching band at UWEC and this will be my third season with them. This band has brought me so much joy and has taught me things that I never knew was possible. The excitement, passion, and drive from each and every member of this band is unmatched. I am so lucky to be apart of such an inspiring, growing group of individuals and it has been such a blast to be able to perform with this band!

Art

Another interest of mine is Art. Growing up I loved partaking in crafts and I slowly started getting better at it. I enjoyed my art classes in middle school and choose to take more in high school.  Again, I did every class I could including, panting, drawing, ceramics, photography, and graphics and design. Throughout the course of four years taking art classes I began to have a large portfolio of artwork. As you can see above, these are my best works from high school and I displayed them at my graduation party. Also, two other pieces I've done are down below, I drew my Grandma Mary on her wedding day and I also drew my other grandparents who have all past away. After high school, I still continue to paint and take photos. My chosen media would be watercolor painting and I've actually had some business this past summer painting client's dogs. This all occurred through word of mouth when for fun I painted my parent's friends bernese mountain dog and her friends saw it and wanted one of their dog. It was a fun way to make some money and I've been thinking about opening up an Etsy shop to continue.  Some other art I have done was creating a sweatshirt and mask in my graphics class. I took photos of my dogs and vinyl printed them onto clothing, I enjoyed this as well. Fashion is also another aspect of art that I enjoy. I have fun picking out my outfit for the day and honestly put too much thought into my outfit. Photography is another art media I love to do and I am trying to get better at it. Down below are pictures I've taken with my camera as well as some random photos from my participation in band.
